Frequently Asked Questions

Are you contracted with medical aids?

Yes, I am contracted with most medical aids - if you have psychology benefits available, a standard 1-hour consultations should be covered in full. However, it is always advisable to contact your medical aid in advance to confirm whether the consultation will be covered.
Most medical aids, however, do not cover the full cost of neuropsychological assessments (mainly due to additional and longer sessions required). You can contact me directly for more information. I submit directly to medical aids.

Can you prescribe medicine or do a physical exam?

I am a neuropsychologist, not a medical doctor, and therefore do not prescribe medicine or provide physical exams. I do, however, work closely with patients’ GPs, psychiatrists, or physicians where medical management is needed.

Can I book a sleep study/sleep apnea test with you directly?

I do not offer sleep studies or sleep apnea tests directly. You would have to get tested at a sleep lab/hospital near you. I do review results and take the findings into consideration in diagnosis and management.

Do you supply CPAP equipment?

No, I unfortunately do not supply or provide maintenance for CPAP equipment.

Do you work with toddlers or children?

I work with older teenagers (>15 years) and adults with insomnia and sleeping difficulties. I unfortunately do not provide neuropsychological or ADHD assessments for individuals younger than 18 years old.

I don’t live in the Western Cape, do you offer online consultations?

I do offer online consultations for sleep/insomnia and psychological support/psychoeducation. However, neuropsychological assessments need to be conducted in-person since there are practical tasks and tests involved. Feedback and follow-up sessions can be done online. My practice is located in Vredehoek, Cape Town.

Do you offer consultations over the weekend?

Unfortunately I do not offer consultations over the weekend or public holidays.

Do I need a referral to book a consultation?

No, you do not need a referral to book a consultation with me, unless your medical aid requires it for reimbursement purposes. Most major medical aids do not have this requirement.
